Membership in the national organization also brings with it the
added value of participating in local events and programs, networking
with your peers, and other benefits:
Membership provides a network of resources for artists involved
in computer graphics. DigitalGuild topics include demonstrations
of new hardware and software releases, current and future trends,
and computer graphic issues. The topics covered are chosen from
an annual member survey. Events often include special discounts,
promotions and give-aways. DigitalGuild events are listed in the
calendar on this site and in our chapter newsletter, Guildlines
(see below) For information about events, contact the Chapter Hotline,
800.406.1689.
Published bimonthly, Guildlines includes local and international
Guild news, a calendar of events, and new and current issues of
interest to graphic artists. New members can submit biographies
and a work sample. For more information and to contribute to the
newsletter, contact Deborah Kantor, dkantor@nycap.rr.com.
The Albany chapter maintains a free hotline job referral system
for clients who need the services of graphic artists. These postings
are available only to full members via email. All members are encouraged
to submit questions about topics ranging from educational resources,
items for sale, carpooling, to questions about the Guild and the
Chapter. Chapter Hotline, e-mail Karen Ward at karen.ward@fac.com.
Members are encouraged to submit samples to the Chapter portfolios—separate
books for illustratorsand designers. Prospective employers view
the portfolios at the AdFacs Communications Expo, and at many Chapter
events throughout the year. Members are encouraged to update their
samples at any of the annual dinners or by mail. To get display
sheets and for more information, contact Delma Phillips-Siegel,
delma.l.phillips-siegel@verizon.com.
The Advocacy committee furthers the mission of the Guild and represents
the interests of graphic artists through lobbying, legislation,
and other activities. The Advocacy chair is the liaison between
the Chapter and the National Advocacy committee.
Albany Chapter publishes a list of members for the use of members
only. New members receive a copy upon joining, and revised listings
are mailed as needed. To be included in the next edition or to receive
a current edition, contact Sue Gutbezahl, sgutbeza@nycap.rr.com.
Albany Chapter members elect representatives to the International
Board of the Graphic Artists Guild. For more information, contact
Albany president Susan Mathews, smathews@nycap.rr.com.
