The National Graphic Artists Guild promotes and protects graphic
artists’ rights. The Guild lobbies for artists’ causes,
including tax laws and national and state legislation. The Guild’s
Professional Practices Committee provides grievance resources as
well as other benefits.
The Graphic Artists Guild Handbook of Pricing and Ethical Guidelines
(PEGs) is acomprehensive, industry-respected resource. PEGs is mailed
from National with each new membership. Additional copies can be
purchased through National.
Contract
Monitor web site — With these pages, you can learn to
read and understand legal contracts, and even write your own contracts
in order to protect your copyrights. Never work without a contract
again!
This includes a national networking system with other graphic artists
via the forums, a members-only benefit area, a member home page
linked to the Guild web site, a jobs/client resource, and member
portfolios posted on the National web site. Some services are at
a nominal fee.
The National newsletter, Guild News, is published bimonthly. Subscription
starts with new membership.
Subscription to the New York chapter’s weekly publication,
Jobline News, entitles members to place résumé and
work samples in the Guild’s resource library. Contact the

These discounts include talent directories, source books, books,
and publications by the Graphic Artists Guild and other publishers.
Discount is generally 15%.
These discounts include overnight/express delivery services, long-distance
calling rates, car rentals, hotel accommodations, art supplies (mail
order and on-line services), accounting software, and subscriptions
to magazines and periodicals.
Health/Life/Disability/Dental insurance plans and HMO plans at group
rates, credit union membership, and pension plans are available
to members.
These services include a legal referral network, an accountant referral
network, a debt collection service, and a networking advisory system
regarding businesses cited for unethical conduct in the graphic
arts.
