Laura Ludwig
Hamor

Laura Ludwig Hamor’s work is in Sculptural Illustration with an emphasis
on children’s publications. She has had work published as logos,
tee-shirt, and poster art. Currently Laura is working on illustrations for a
children’s book, and exploring licensing her art designs through her company
LLH Designs.
Each of Laura’s illustrations begin as a pencil sketch, when she is happy
with the layout, a 3 dimensional relief of the drawing is created from either
Crayola® Model Magic®, or Sculptey ©. The resulting illustration
is photographed with an Olympus digital camera. Now there is a digital
file that can now be shared with a client. The files are managed on a Mac ibook.
In January ’02 the Society of Illustrators Museum exhibited Laura’s
sculptural illustration in the Prevailing Human Spirit exhibit.
For 15 years she worked out of a small studio in her home. This year Laura
moved her company LLH Designs into a commercial studio space with plenty of room
for multiple projects.

When she is not at her studio, Laura is an artist-in-residence; designing whole
school (500 student) collaborative projects. These projects have been displayed
at the New York State Museum and the Schenectady Museum Crayola® Dream-Makers® exhibits.
Laura is the New York State Art Consultant to Binney & Smith® makers
of Crayola educational products. She conducts Crayola® Dream-Makers® teacher
workshops linking art to other areas of the curriculum.
Laura is a member of the Society of Children Book Writers and Illustrators,
the Children’s Literature Connection and the Graphics Artists Guild.
She lives in Guilderland, New York, with her husband, John, four sons: John,
Michael, Craig and Brian, and their dog Casey.
